പാലക്കാടിന്റെ തണുത്ത അറ

It was just an accidental decesion to take a drive to the ‘Freezig zone of Palakkad’ – Nelliyampathy..
Two bullets ( 4 persons ) with no preparations moved on to Nelliyampathy from Palakkad. We expected nothing but we got every thing to experience. Filling up petrol tank with Rs.400 each, we started our journey and we had nothing much in our hand. With the help of Google map we just moved on to our destination. Now it starts ‘The world of exploring’.
On the way its the first destination is the Pothundi Dam where we just started experiencing the beauty of Nelliyampathy. We where welcomed by the mother nature with a nice and cool rain. We enteried the dam (entry fee Rs.20 for adults and Rs.10 for childrens), where the first view is to the park decorated with flowers and statues. Actually I sited it to be a couples corner and we just rushed up to take few videos and photos to move on to the top of the dam.
The top view of the dam is visible only if we climb the long 100+ steps to the top and we decided to do the same. On the top the dam welcomed us with the cool breeze and its a wonderful site where we can enjoy the art of nature and the art of man, where one side is the park and the other side is the dam and mountains which was partially visible due to fog. Being the energetic youth we never missed and instance of pic’s being taken. Its possible to walk to the both side of the dam which leads to the exits. Due to eagerness to the move to Nelliyampathy we took the same steps to exit the dam. But it had more than enough to spent a whole day out there, with parks, playing area and many so as.
It was drizzling out and we decided to move on. A kilometer away it was the forest check-post where they asked for the details and we continued our journey. As we moved on suddenly the road was filled with fog and it became difficult to ride further up (but some how we made it). It was wonderful riding through the fog, as like cutting them into two with my Royal Enfiled. On the way we stopped and took few pic’s as i said we never missed a opportunity. Through the drizzling rain and bisecting the breeze we reached the top, our destination Nelliyampathy.
We never looked to the time, until our stomach starting burning and we sited a small hotel to cool out the flame inside. Had a good meals and talked with the shop owner about the viewpoints to visit, he just explained everything we wanted.
We moved on to the Manaloor estate road where we sited the AVT tea factory. Opposite to that there is a small temple. Through the side of the temple it took us to our first view point at Nelliyampathy (sorry for not knowing the name of the place). We have to park our vehicle beside the road and walk to the point. The way to the view point itself create the ambiance anybody would love to have. It seems as if we are moving through a haunted road, surrounded by thick bush and half destroyed buildings. We again was lucky to see the view point with and without fog. We could see the Pothundi Dam and the way up we climped. Spending the time relaxing around, we spent and hour there and we decided to move to our most awaited destination ‘Seethargundu View Point’. Roughly 8km away and we moved on.
On reaching the Seethargundu view point we took a POABS Organic Tea from its outlet there. Frankly speaking, that its was an awesome tea. It took about 3min to walk to the point. ‘Mind blowing’ we could see the whole Palakkad and the way we traveled, noting was better than spending time there, and we spent about 2.hrs to feel it out.
Heavy breeze and nice snow fall just relaxed us than any others. In Seethargundu we can walk around and enjoy the beauty of nature. As the sun was about to set, it was risky to stay up on the top and moved back as we had to ride the way back too.

Taking another cup of tea and bun we enjoyed the last momemnts at Nelliyampathy the hill station. With the whole mind with pain to exit the place we rided back to Palakkad. Like the blessings from the almighty the drizzles followed our way back to Palakkad, leaving our mind and taughts at “Freezing Zone of Palakkad – Nelliyampathy ”
